Appearance: Average-looking guy with green eyes, fairly short dirty blonde hair, and a chin strap beard. He wears a hoodie (usually black these days, otherwise other dark colors) with a Pokeball logo on it and black jeans. Underneath is a plain gray t-shirt. Black high-top basketball shoes. The Pokeballs of his six current Pokemon are attached to his belt and hidden by the hoodie.

Personality: Fairly laid-back. Quiet unless around good friends. Loves to goof off and make people laugh, believing in having fun at all times. Is incredibly loyal to friends, but break his trust and you become an enemy, for he is extremely vindictive. Has a short temper at times but can take a joke. Rarely shows fear. Believes that the key to being a great trainer is to become friends and bond with Pokemon. He always keeps at least one Pokemon out of its Pokeball for the sake of having company, safety, and to keep them happy. He takes battles seriously but isn't usually troubled by a loss. He never blames his Pokemon when making mistakes in battle. Ever since his depression (See History), Jake has adopted a slightly darker and more serious personality, along with being less stable in general.

History: Jake was born and grew up in Vermillion City with his parents and older brother. He had a few good friends ever since he was a kid. One night, while they were messing around in Diglett’s Cave, he met a lone Gastly.They became friends and Jake started returning to play with it. Soon, Gastly followed him home and became a permanent member of the family. Jake had a fear of the dark before meeting Gastly, but within the first year he began to understand ghost Pokemon and how they act, and began seeking out dark places to learn more about them. Besides ghost types, Jake had naturally grown fond of water types from living by the sea.

Jake looked up to his brother Josh more than anyone and always wanted to be like him. Not long after Gastly showed up, Josh left to be a trainer. The last Jake heard from him, he had become a Pokemon doctor. When Jake was old enough he visited Professor Oak and was given a Squirtle to help start a journey of his own. He traveled the Kanto region acquiring gym badges and honing his skills as a trainer. He never really challenged the League, but knew he was good enough. Instead, he used his skills to fight off Kanto's increase in crime by taking a job as a police officer in his hometown. He was given a Luxio to train for this job, who became a powerful addition to his team. He quickly rose through the ranks, but after a few years he quit to pursue his dream of being a gym leader. Jake traveled to Johto, where he met Kurtis Ise and Tristan Brown, quickly befriending both of them. During this time he suffered the loss of three of his Pokemon: Luxray, Aggron, and Primeape. After he parted ways with his friends, Jake fell into a deep and painful depression. It got so bad that he nearly lost his sanity at one point. One day he found a crying Cubone, which put things into perspective. Jake remembered his dream and decided that instead of letting death control him, he would command death. So he assembled a new team based around this theme, left his water type friend in Vermillion, and headed to Arthias. Soon he found Xeno Village, the perfect place to establish his first gym.

Personality: Kind, friendly, playful, loyal. A true friend to all kind-hearted people and Pokemon. Basically a ghostly Pikachu. Likes to embody Jake's hood when traveling.

Gender: Female
Personality: Quiet, happy, lovable. The first Pokemon Jake actually captured through battle. Not used as often as others in battle, but skilled nonetheless. Often trained alongside Haunter.

Species: Mandibuzz
Nickname: N/A
Gender: Female
Personality: Incredibly loyal and proud of itself. She’s badass, she knows it, and she can prove it. She is a favorite of Jake’s and is often outside of her Pokeball for quick use. She serves somewhat of a leadership role among Jake’s new team.

Species: Marowak
Nickname: N/A
Gender: Male
Personality: A bit shy and cautious, but a valuable member of Jake’s team nonetheless. Tends to emulate Jake’s personality because they have death in common.

 
Species: Houndoom
Nickname: Fireball
Gender: Male
Personality: An extremely aggressive and powerful Pokemon that was found in the wild fully evolved. This led Jake to believe that Fireball was abandoned by a previous owner who was some sort of criminal. Can get carried away in battles to the point where it doesn’t hear Jake’s commands. He tends to do better with this whenever Jake shows more stern leadership.

Gender: N/A
Personality: A mysterious Pokemon that followed Jake around after he visited Mt. Mort for the first time. As expected of a Shedinja, it doesn’t appear to have much of a personality at all. It recently chose to enter one of his Pokeballs and appears to be highly loyal, intelligent, and stealthy.

Jake likes to think of the last four Pokemon as Famine, Death, War and Pestilence, respectively, and may call them by these nicknames  occasionally.
