Kurtis could feel himself being dragged into consciousness with each heavy pound against his cabin door. Light began to fill his vision as his eyelids peeled back, revealing to Kurtis that yes, this was a brand new day, and that yes, he had indeed celebrated his new position far too much the night before.
"Mr. Ise, we will arrive at Platinum Port in half an hour," the voice of a young man echoed through the cabin door.
Kurtis managed to garble out a short response, so that the kid would stop hitting the door to wake Kurtis up. Kurtis then laid there, trying to keep his body as still as possible against the sway of the boat he was riding on. He had to give it to the Arthias League. They were bringing him to his new home in style. The S.S. Eve was a hell of a ship, and he had greatly enjoyed the party they had thrown him the night before on the deck of the luxury liner. Kurtis's stomach disagreed, but then again this wasn't the first time.
Finally, a sound clicked in his head. Kurtis peered down to one end of the small cabin he was staying in. The petite bathroom door was closed, and he could hear the shower running. He then looked over the room. It was trashed with a menagerie of his own clothes and a separate outfit that he was sure he wouldn't even begin to fit it. Besides, that pink dress just really wasn't his color.
Yep, it had been a hell of a celebration. At least the parts he could remember. Kurtis pushed himself into a sitting position swung his legs off the bed. Oh man, today was gonna be rough. His body was incredibly upset with him. Kurtis grabbed a towel from his suitcase, and joined the humming echoing from the bathroom. Today was going to be a good day.

Sir GuyAboard the S.S. EveMission BriefingTap... tap... tap... tapity... tap... tap. Guy let loose a heavy, exasperated sigh. For over an hour he had been sitting at the desk in his cabin waiting on the call from Acquisitions on what he would be doing in the Arthias region. He repeatedly tapped the fingers of his right hand against the hard wood of the desk, while his left propped his head up. His mind wandered away from him as he began so by other Knights. “No matter what scars you bare, whatever uniform you wear, you can fight like a Krogan, run like a-“ Guy picked up and answered his PokeGear immediately. Although it pained him to do so as he loves his ring tone. “I hate these ‘you don’t call me, I call you’ shenanigans, Roxy.” “It is to ensure an encrypted line.” This was the call Guy had been waiting for. Roxy is his handler within the Acquisitions branch of the Templars of Steel, and it is her job to keep him ‘in the know’. SG: “Okay, I get that, but why’d you have to keep me waiting? I have been waiting by my phone for an hour.” R: “Did you account for time-zone changes?” SG: “S-shut it, Rox... so, wanna fill me in?” R: “We don’t have much to go on ourselves, but it looks like the High Researcher wants someone to go and investigate the lore of the land and find out if it has anything to do with the Black Segment.” SG: “Isn’t this the job for the High Researcher or something?” R: “No. It must be you. The Templars have never set foot in Arthias and we don’t know how the local authorities will react to us. They may view us as harmless or a threat. They might not even know who or what we are. We needed someone who could fight if they must. And you are the only knight currently not on assignment.” SG: “Understood. So I go talk to some local and maybe find a library, learns some stuff, and then come home.” R: “Correct. Good luck, Knight-Commander.” Slouching in the chair, Guy closed the PokeGear, let his head fall back and just stared at the ceiling for a few minutes. Seriously, what are the odds of something relevant to the Black Segment being found in a place the TofS never even set foot? This felt like it was going to be a wild Swana chase, yet it also felt like it was going to be one crazy ride. He couldn’t shake the feeling that this mission was going to be bigger than he could ever imagine. Relevant or not, he thought while getting dressed, I will do as the Order dictates. Who knows, maybe this will finally be the last piece of the puzzle. No, wait. We still don’t even have the middle parts of it. With his pants and shirt on, the Knight left his cabin and out onto the deck for some air. The sea was calm and the sky blue. Guy leaned against the railing and peered deeply into the water below.

"Mama, mama, look!" A young boy stood down the deck of the S.S. Eve, jumping up and down while pointing at a figure that stood near the bow of the luxury liner. The figure was leaning on the railing, watching the sun rise over the horizon of the trip into Platinum Port. The young boy's mother looked toward the figure and blinked.
"Yes, yes, alright" the mother responded, letting go of the boys hand. In an instant, the boy took off toward the mysterious figure. The boy had heard a rumor - that the party last night was for a new Elite Four member, and that the guests included the League Champion. This was the young boy's chance to determine the truth of the rumor. It took him little time to approach the figure and as he did, the young boy's eyes widened in awe. "No way..."
The figure turned and looked at the boy, smiling. He knelt down and put a finger to his own lips, whispering "shhh." The boy blinked and had a huge grin on his face. He nodded vigorously and ran off to meet his mother again. The figure stood back up and shook his head, laughing softly to himself. He heard beeping from his PokeGear and pulled it out of his pocket, answering.
"Yes? This is Aden." He paused for a moment while the voice on the other end spoke. After another moment he sighed, responding. "Yes, the ship arrives in about a half hour." With that, Aden shut the device and slipped it back into his pocket.
Aden adjusted the scarf that hung around his neck, leaning back over on the rail. He hoped that his new associate had enjoyed the party. He looked forward to actually introducing himself to the newest Elite Four member.

Tristan Brown sat at a table in the dining hall of the S.S. Eve with his Espeon, Prism, curled by his feet. In place of the brown full-brimmed hat that he normally wore was a tidy mess of casually styled hair. In situations as social as these he usually tried to forgo most of his equipment so he didn’t stand out too badly. He had also left his pack in his room. “It would have been embarrassing to drag the thing around this place anyway.” He thought to himself.
He had been waiting to meet Kurtis Ise for breakfast for at least an hour. He was content to keep waiting, but every moment he did so, the idea of this meeting coming to fruition seemed both more and less likely. Eventually, Tristan ordered his food. French toast and coffee was his favorite. As he cut open his side of fried eggs done over medium his thoughts wandered to the events of the night before. The celebration held in honor of his long-time friend stepping foot within the ranks of the Elite had been extravagant indeed. While it had been enjoyable, it was nearly overwhelming for Tristan. “Too many people.”
“I wonder when he’ll be here… Or if he’ll be here.” Tristan was unsure of where Kurtis ended the night. His friend had much more to drink than him and during the course of the night was both wandering and being pulled about to wherever was the most interesting place to be or whoever was the most fascinating person to meet at that time. That place seemed to have changed frequently as did the people. Although, meeting the Arthias League Champion and Police Special Forces Commander definitely stuck out. Still, he eventually lost track of Kurtis in the sea of partygoers, fair weather fans, and well-wishers and continued on with the party on his own. Tristan had been certain for a long time that they had very different ways of enjoying alcohol. While he hadn’t yet checked Kurtis’ room, Tristan saw no need to. “As long as he didn’t fall off the ship he can’t be too bad off and I doubt that would go unnoticed, as popular as he was. I’ll run into him.” For now Tristan was happy to sit at his table and observe the people, the ship, and the ocean. He gave Prism a gentle caress with the side of his foot as he relaxed back into his seat.

Kurtis grabbed his longboard and bag from beside his bed. Oh man, his stomach was not happy. It growled fiercely as Kurtis moved quickly. The woman in his shower had delayed Kurtis by a solid half an hour, but now she was gone, and he was thanking the stars that his best friend was the patient type. No doubt Browny had waited up for him. Kurtis grabbed a Pokeball from out of his bag and popped it open. A Sneasel erupted from the ball with a large stretch and a silent yawn.
"Sorry you've been cooped up so long, Jonah," Kurtis apologized to the Sneasel. Sneasel nodded his head, acknowledging the trainer. "Eh, fuck the boat rules, I'm Elite Four now. You can stay out while we go to breakfast." Sneasel smirked and followed Kurtis out the door of the cabin and down the hallway.
Kurtis quickly made his way to the top deck where the dining hall was located. Only one concerned boat worker attempted to get Kurtis to return Jonah to his pokeball. A polite comment from Kurtis refuted the request, and Kurtis was sure he heard Jonah retort with a not as polite snort at the boat worker. Kurtis finally burst through the double doors of the dining hall, seeing Tristan in the corner of the large room. Just like his friend to keep his back to a wall.
Kurtis rushed forward, Jonah trailing him. As he approached the table, he greeted his Tristan. "Hey Browny, sorry about the delay. Too many shots and that cute girl in the pink dress kinda killed my punctuality. Anywho, I think Aden said he was gonna meet us here."

Sir GuyAboard the S.S. EveRace Against TimeGuy’s stomach growled ferociously. “I could really go for some food. Lets see what the time is.” he took a look at his PokeGear and saw the time. He only had about 4min before the dining hall stopped serving food. He quickly turned around and literally leapt from the railing into his room. He slipped his boots on with the fury of a thousand mach punches. After he mounted the broken Snag-Machine on his left arm he threw this coat on in a very dramatic fashion. Doing things so ridiculously wasn’t necessary, but he always goes for style points. Even when nobody is watching. With all of his stuff now on his person, he sprinted out the cabin door and down toward the dining hall as fast as he could. While running, Guy checked his PokeGear. It showed about 15seconds until the dining hall closed. He rounded a corner to see a waiter closing the doors. There was only one way he was going to make it in. His feet left the floor and his body curled as he combat rolled right between the shutting door into the dining hall. “I made it in before the doors closed! Does that mean I still get some food?” Guy sat on the floor breathing heavily. “We won’t stop serving food for another hour, sir.” one of the waiters looked disgusted. Sir Guy once again took out his PokeGear, “I still haven’t set the time on here for the time-zone change.” he looked up from the device, “Why were you shutting the doors if you weren't closing?” “I don’t think that concerns you. Now hurry up and tell us what you want so we can get you out of here before the Champion arrives.” Guy’s eyes narrowed, “So you were closing. Whatever, give me three hard-boiled eggs. I don’t care what species they are from, I just want them. Please.” Guy picked himself up off the floor while the waiter went to fetch Guy the food. It was kinda odd seeing the room without anyone in it. Well, except the two guys over at a table by themselves. Guy situated himself close enough to over hear their conversation, as it was his duty to gather intel, but far enough away they couldn't tell he was doing it.
The waiter returned with the hard-boiled eggs. "Eat quickly. We need you gone before the champion arrives."

It took Aden a few moments, since he was in a public place, to get headed in the direction of the S.S. Eve's dining room. One person stopped him to get a picture or ask for an autographed, followed by another... the people never seemed to stop. The champ wasn't that bothered by the attention, it was nice to know that he was doing his job if people still wanted to get a hold of him.
He reached down to his belt and pushed one of the buttons on a pokeball. With a red flash, a small blue thing started to jump around as it punched and kicked the air. Aden had to pause halfway down the hallway, watching the little Riolu shadowbox. He laughed, which definitely got the pokemon's attention. "C'mon Spyke, we have a meeting." The riolu blinked, nodding. Aden came to the doors of the dining hall after hearing somewhat of a commotion. The riolu followed him, mimicking the champs every movement, facial expression, etc.
He stepped through the door and noticed that the wait-staff had basically kicked everyone out, and heard a comment from a waiter to a man who had apparently just gotten his food. "No need for that" he stated. "Let the man eat." Spyke the riolu pointed dramatically at the waiter while Aden spoke.
Aden nodded his head to the man eating and walked past him only to approach the table that Kurtis and Tristan were seated. Spyke immediately took notice of the other pokemon and started to jump around and in front of the sneasel, attempting to get him to play a game or something.
The champ didn't sit down quite yet, though he couldn't help but laugh at the antics of his little Riolu. He turned to the two other trainers and finally started to speak. "I hope you enjoyed the party last night" he said with a chuckle.

After a short time spent observing the other diners in the room, Tristan began to notice a peculiar thing taking place. He had been watching people come and go all morning, each replacing the last to leave. But now he realized that the dining hall was slowly emptying itself. Before too long, only he and one other table remained. After a few awkward glances the parents at the other table in the middle of the hall walked their child out and left Tristan completely alone. “The dining hall isn’t supposed to close for another hour. Where is everyone?”
Tristan was starting to get agitated. He felt like he didn’t belong here right now, but the wait staff continued on with their duties as if nothing had happened. Then he felt a feeling of calm flowing through the back of his mind like a quietly babbling brook. It was Prism’s way of reassuring him. She obviously had gleaned something about the situation that Tristan had not. “Alright. If you say so.” Then a familiar face put him even more at ease. Kurtis entered the room with all the presence of a Snorlax, being the only other person on the dining hall floor."Hey Browny, sorry about the delay.Too many shots and that cute girl in the pink dress kinda killed my punctuality. Anywho, I think Aden said he was gonna meet us here."
“Ah, that’s alright. It sounds like you’ve been enjoying your morning enough for the both of us. So, I guess that must explain all this then.”Tristan gestured around all the emptiness in the room. A waiter arrived to address Kurtis’ needs and curtly removed himself once again. As Kurtis settled himself and started to talk, a regular and heavy thudding noise from outside the dining hall brought itself to Tristan’s notice just before a man in a long coat wearing what seemed to be some sort of gauntlet rolled through the double doors to the room, giving the place an unwarranted sense of excitement. After an exchange between the man and one of the staff who had been on his way to the kitchen, he sat himself in the middle of the dining hall, presumably waiting on his order.
When the waiter returned with the man’s meal, Tristan overheard him speaking. "Eat quickly. We need you gone before the champion arrives." As if that were his queue, Aden Drogo, whom Tristan recognized from the night before crossed the threshold of the room. “No need for that.” He addressed the waiter. “Let the man eat.”
“What? Now everyone shows up at once?” Tristan thought. Drogo made his way across the room to where Kurtis and Tristan sat. Tristan couldn’t help but feel that the excitement in the air had given way to tranquility the instant the champion had arrived. He certainly had and indomitable presence. Upon arriving at the table, the Riolu by his side began to tease and berate Kurtis’ Sneasel, Jonah, looking for a rise. Drogo, still standing, turned from the sight after a moment and spoke. "I hope you enjoyed the party last night" he said with a chuckle. Tristan couldn’t help but laugh under his breath in response. “Oh yeah. It was a great time. Kurtis here seems like he enjoyed it a little too much for his own good, though.” He shot a sly look at his friend, observing a hint of the bags left under his smiling eyes.

A smile washed over Kurtis's face. He let out a short chuckle before he answered, "I'd say it was worth it. I mean, it's not every day you become an Elite Four member."
Kurtis chuckled again, taking a bite of food. As the mixture of eggs, hashbrowns, and ketchup dropped into his gullet, he could feel the joyous feelings his queasy stomach was letting out as it finally began to digest something solid and non-alcoholic.
"And between the three of us," Kurtis smiled, leaning in closer to the other two for dramatic effect, "the pick-up line, 'You know, I'm an Elite Four member,' works really well, especially when it's true!"
The three laughed a bit at Kurtis's terrible joke before they began discussing business. Tristan and Aden mostly discussed the journey, while Kurtis watch Riolu taunting Jonah. He smiled at the little fighting-type's brass, but, ah, yeah, there it was. Sneasel lightly placed his right paw on the little Riolu's face, pushing the Pokemon backward in a tiny tumble.
"Oh Jonah," Kurtis smiled, "he's just tryin' to play."
A sly smile emerged on the Sneasel's face.
Kurtis returned his attention to his human companions. "So, Aden, what's on the itinerary today? Am I gonna have to kiss any babies' foreheads, or are we heading straight to the party at the league headquarters?"

Sir GuyAboard the S.S. EveVibrating Pants“OoOoOoOo. Champion, you say? That means this place we’re going to has a Pokemon League.” Guy struggled with the shells on the eggs as they were not peeling off easily. "Let the man eat." A Riolu pointed dramatically at the waiter while a man spoke. The man nodded to Guy on his way over to the table with the other two men. Sir Guy sat listening in on the conversation. It ranged from journeys to parties, to pick up lines to making out with babies? Oh, wait. He said kissing their foreheads... good. Good. Why does this guy seem familiar to me? Guy ceased pretending to not listen and just sat there eating and watching. Why does he look so fa- uh... “Uh.” Guy let out an audible uh as his pants vibrated. He pulled out his PokeGear to find a text. ‘Hey Guy, I’m off duty now if you wanna talk.’ It was from Roxy. She has been under a lot of stress ever since the Ascendants moved in and turned the Knights of Order into the Templars of Steel. Roxy has been at odds with them for a while now. ‘Yeah, what do you need?’ Guy found it hard to multitask between texting and listening to the conversation a few tables over. ‘I just wanna talk is all. How is the cruise? See any exotic wildlife?’ Guy sighed heavily, ‘Roxy I am busy right now. I’ll have this conversation in a few minutes. I need to go.’ He waited a few minutes after sending the message, waiting for a response. When one didn’t come he decided to enact his plan. Guy quickly composed a new text and sent it to one of his contacts he hasn’t spoken to for years- Kurtis Ise. The actual message wasn’t important so Guy just pressed letters like an Aipom smashing on a keyboard. The familiar man reached into his pocket to check his ‘Gear. After this Guy was certain he had the right man. He spoke up over their conversation about babies, “Kurtis! I thought that was you! Or is it not and you just happened to coincidentally receive a message right as I sent one to some one who I thought you are. Uh...” Guy walked over as he said his confused ramblings and sat down at the table hoping that when the man answered, he would confirm that he is, indeed, Kurtis.
Otherwise this would be awkward beyond all reason.

The ship began to slow, gradually into a stalling stop. It was too early to be hitting port already. A few more worried people scuttled up to the deck to see what the trouble was. Nothing seemed wrong, if you ignore the fact that they were floating in the middle of the ocean, miles from the coast.
A boat of four passing by, each just as shady as the other looking over the ship, one after another releasing their Sigilyph’s, the one up front also sending out Krookodile, their boat getting awfully crowded. “Not going to complain about the easy target. Grab anything of worth- remember your target is Ise.” The stall out hadn’t been part of their plan but it made it all the easier to hit the broad side of the barn. The back three jumping up on the backs of their Pokemon flying straight in towards it.
“Now just to make sure to keep trouble makers busy, Krookodile- Hyper Beam.”
The red beast turned charging its blast, firing straight at the hull of The SS Eve.

Conversation had continued for quite some time. During that time, Aden took a seat had quite enjoyed the time talking to the other trainers. The one who sat off to the side even seemed to know Kurtis, which was good. At least the new Elite Four member wouldn't be completely alone in a whole new region without knowing anyone.
Their talk over breakfast went as well as any discussion with food involved could - that is until the cruise ship lurched to a complete stop. The captain of the ship came over the intercom to deliver the message that the ship's engine had mysteriously stopped working. A lot of the passengers started to yell and complain, until...
BOOM!
A small explosion rocked the ship as the Krookodile's Hyper Beam tore a gaping hole in the hull. Almost immediately, the boat started to take on water and the complaints turned into screams of fear. The crew did the best that they could, ushering people into lifeboats and onto water-type pokemon that they might have brought along for the cruise.
The champ stood from his seat rather abruptly, and reached down to his belt. Spyke the Riolu let out a yelp and jumped from his place playing with Jonah to clinging onto Aden's scarf, whimpering from the loud noise.
Aden cursed under his breath, pulling a pokeball and tossing it above him. In a bright flash, a Samurott appeared just away from them, looking around. The champ looked to the other three trainers in the room. "I'm going to investigate, do what you can to help out" he told them, immediately shifting into his police commander persona.
"Blade, with me!" he said, running out of the dining hall directly toward the deck. His scarf trailed behind him - lucking Spyke had managed to crawl up and latch onto his neck. The Samurott followed him without hesitation.
On deck, the sight of three men riding on the backs of their Sigilyph was not hard to miss. Aden's eyes narrowed, seeing a fourth Sigilyph as well. That meant one more person. He wasted no time in calling out an attack. "Blade, Hydro Pump!" The Samurott responded with a proud yelp. It inhaled deeply and blasted a powerful spout of water from its open mouth, headed for the middle of the pirates.

The conversation had changed dramatically upon the ships deceleration. While people wondered and complained aloud about what was happening and the captain delivered his message Tristan felt a creeping sense of concern in the back of his mind. Something was definitely wrong and Prism was trying to tell him. BOOM! Tristan felt the impact of the explosion through the floor. Panic spread like a fire through the passengers and most people started fighting towards the ship’s evacuation points. Aden stood up, cursed under his breath, and released a Samurott onto the dining room floor. Then the champ looked to the three of them. “I’m going to investigate. Do what you can to help out.” With that, he ran out of the room, his Samurott following close behind. The ship’s captain once again spoke over the intercom. This time he was informing everyone that pirates had breached the ship’s hull and that they needed to proceed to the lifeboats for evacuation. “Can you find it?” Tristan asked Prism. A look of serene concentration came over her as she probed the crew’s minds for the information. Tristan then felt her assurance as she pranced for the door, leading the way. “Prism knows where the breach is!” Tristan exclaimed to the others. “I’m going to try to fix it!” Without waiting, Tristan sprinted after the Espeon as she led him far below the cruiser’s deck.

The ship lurched forward, and Kurtis watched Sneasel catch himself as the Riolu tumbled to the floor for a moment. Kurtis wasn't sure what was going on, but it clearly wasn't good. "I'm going to investigate. Do what you can to help out," Aden grabbed Kurtis's attention for a moment, before storming out of the dining hall. Kurtis turned to his friend, Tristan, and began to speak, but was cut off as the captain came across the intercom.
As the captain finished his panicked address to the passengers, Kurtis went to speak with his friend again, but noticed that he was clearly discussing things with his Espeon. Ugh, it wasn't even worth trying to interrupt them.
He turned to Guy, who was clearly deciding on his next course of action. "Prism knows where the breach is!" Tristan suddenly exclaimed. Oh good, now they could actually go and do som-
"I'm going to try and fix it!"
"Damn it, Browny, hold on!" Kurtis called after his friend, but it was too late. "And they call me Mr. Impulsive," Kurtis sighed.
"Well, I supposed I'm gonna go help take care of these assholes trying to sink our boat," Kurtis spoke to Guy quietly.
Kurtis dropped another Pokeball, his shiny Umbreon erupting into existence. Then the trainer, having gathered his bag and longboard, followed his companions out of the dining hall.

Sir GuyAboard the S.S. EveUnto the Breach"Well, I supposed I'm gonna go help take care of these assholes trying to sink our boat," Kurtis spoke to Guy quietly.
“Well yeah, okay. I’ll see to the civilians. Ensure their safety and all that.” Guy stood up and followed Kurtis out of the dining hall. Guy cracked his knuckles, “It has been a while since I’ve got to punch something in the face.” He released both his Pokemon and gave them instruction. “Fury, jump in the water and tow some life boats to port. I am sure you can get a few in one trip. Blitzkrieg, help me direct the panicking people to the boats Fury will be towing.”
Fury leapt over the railing into the sea. Guy waved his metal-clad arm up in the air, “Over here, people! I’ve got three life boats that everyone seems to be ignoring!” It took almost no time for the panicking people to notice that there were, indeed, three boats near the man in the black coat. They started to fight for who was going to get into the boats but Guy put a stop to that nonsense right away. “Alright, calm down. No. Seriously. Stop.” Blitzkrieg stepped in the middle of the group, raising his claws to them. They calmed and Guy directed them into the boats. Once all three life boats where in the water and their tow ropes were tied to Fury’s tail, the Feraligatr took off toward the port. “I’ll meet you there, Fury!” Guy hollered to his majestic Pokemon.
“Blitzkrieg, go find the two guys fighting the pirates and assist them. I’m gonna go help seal the breach.” The Scizor bolted quickly to aid the men defending the ship while Guy tried to find where Kurtis’ friend went. While searching for Browny and the hole, Guy received another text from Roxy. Though he did not check it, it read:
‘Hey, do you remember that professor guy we met in Orre?’
